Contradiction (Dark Ages) - MOAB Single Figure entry
(2009)
This is a figure (Contradiction) from Dark Age's range, from the Forsaken faction. I've always loved this figure since I saw Jennifer Haley's studio version and my version is very closely modeled on this paint job.
I was fortunate enough to pick up first place, but really painting this figure was reward in itself as the sculpt really was an absolute joy to paint. Great proportions and a lovely face meant a very pleasurable painting experience! I tried to model the base to replicate the contradiction theme, splitting it so that on one side there was blood spatter signifying the violent nature of war, as opposed to the sculpted cross/crucifex which is what is ideally, the peaceful nature of personal faith. I always imagined this figure to be a kind of priest or padre torn between his beliefs of peace and love and the reality of violence in war.
