Update, update, update!
25-04-2010
Well, it's time to get this site updated with some more photos and news from 2008 and 2009.
OK so it's been quite some time since I last posted an update on this site.
Since then, a fair bit has happened.. I missed putting together an entry for Golden Demon 2008 and had a small sabbatical from painting whilst travelling to Japan at the end of 2008, and again in the beginning of 2009.
2009 was the year I got my act together however, managing to prepare some entries for Little Wars, MOAB and Golden Demon painting competitions.
Little Wars was in April 2009, and featured a small Eolith zombie on a scenic base, which was really just a fun piece to paint up, and nothing too serious. Suffice to say, he did not place but was a fun figure to have painted.
MOAB was held 3rd - 5th October, in Sylvania, and I managed to prepare two entries: Dark Age's "Contradiction" for the single miniature category, and a Freebooter miniatures "Thief" in the Open category (which was originally sculpted by Werner Klocke for the online "Visions in Colour" competition from back in 2002 I believe).
I was fortunate enough to place with both pieces, gaining a 1st place in Single miniature and 2nd in Open.
And then onto the big one for the year - Golden Demon!
Well, having obtained a Death Korps of Krieg Death Rider, I decided to enter it into the 40K Large miniature category, and also entered a Warhammer Fantasy Empire battle Wizard in the Open category (for the first time!)
Suffice to say, I was incredibly surprised when my Death Rider took a Gold demon statue for first place, over my good friend's Ork Nob (which I fully expected to win the category). My empire wizard did not place, however I did not expect it to but it did receive some favourable comments from both staff, competitors and viewers which made me happy.
So all in all, 2009 was a pretty successful year as far as competition entries go, and I've got plenty of pictures to update the gallery with! |
